The boarding dog of this week is Bailey D.!!!!!!

Bailey is a 10 year old Australian Shepherd who is new to our Best Friends as of October. Even though she is 10 Bailey is still full of energy. She loves to play outside and cuddle up with one of her best friends during her cuddletimes. Being such a sweet girl we are always happy to have her with us.

Dogs survive Katrina and Haiti!

A dachshund and dachshund/ lab mix, Deiter and Bella have been through it all. They were originally abandoned in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina ripped through the south and now these 2 pups have survived the earthquake of Haiti. Owner Paul Fowler and Christine Duchatellier Fowler were flown out of Haiti after the earthquake took place and were forced to leave their beloved dogs behind. Paul and Christine were heartbroken when they had to leave

Deiter and Bella behind after they had already been through Katrina. Once they had returned to the states they contacted the Humane Society which was finally allowed into Haiti this past weekend. The Humane Society gave the couple their word they would do their best to reunite the Fowlers with their dogs. After all their efforts the dogs are to arrive home next week to reunite with their family!

Donate Old Blankets and Towels!

Double Dog Rescue needs your help!

Double Dog Rescue rescues many dogs all year long and some are left sleeping on concrete floors due to a lack of blankets and towels in shelters. If you have any old blankets and towels as long as they are not to mangled they would be greatly appreciated. If you have any donations you can drop them off at our center here in Avon!

Tarah is a 14 year old German Short-haired Pointer who has been coming to our Best Friends
since 2005. Tarah is truly a sweetheart who always enjoys a good rub down after her nature walks followed by a good nap.

German Short haired Pointer finds a frozen man!

A dog named Effie helped save a 94 year old man who was frozen to his driveway. Effie and her owner Brett Grinde were talking their routine walk when it happened. Brett says that Effie continuously pulled in a different direction than they were headed like she insisted the walk in that other direction. After pulling for a minute or two Effie took off running bringing Brett to follow behind, she stopped in the middle of a neighbors driveway where Brett found Mr. William Lepsch unconscious. Brett said he than called for help and began to administer CPR until Mr. Lepsch regained his consciousness and was brought to a near by hospital where he was treated.
